"...if you're at all concerned about story openings, you'd be nuts not to read what Qualkinbush has to say." —Wil McCarthy, author of BLOOM and THE COLLAPSIUMHow to Write SF
The Craft of Writing Science Fiction that Sells by Ben Bova, best-selling author and six-time Hugo Award winner for Best Editor. (This is one of the books your ol' Critter Captain learned from himself, and I highly recommend it.)

Joining (or reactivating if you've been inactive) is as simple as filling out the form below.
If you don't hear back from me within a day or two with your new member information, then assume I've been unable to reach you. It's surprising how many folks send me mail with wrong email addresses. (Which is sad, since it means they're probably not getting replies from anyone else, either.) Check the Bad Address page to see if your email address is listed there as being unreachable.
Also check your spam box; these days many of the replies end up there. You should add critters@critique.org and critters@critters.org to your list of known senders ("white list"). NOTE: I do not have time to handle sender verification requests (where your server sends back mail saying "do this to finish sending your mail"); sorry. If you use such a service and don't see a reply, add us to your white list and try again.
If I'm out of town, I usually post a note on the home page.
